Project Overview

Bruntwood made the decision to convert Orleans House, a grade II listed building previously used as offices, into a residential building comprising of 71 apartments. The apartments come in a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom options. The newly-built residential building is located within Liverpool's commercial district.

Standing Space was tasked with producing the residential design package for the project by Amspec Ltd, the main contractor. This included creating fully detailed drawings, specifications and designs to bring the residence to life for a successful selling event.

On the night of the launch, Delph Properties Ltd, the new owner of Orleans House purchased from Bruntwood, noted that this development had the highest number of sales on launch night out of their entire portfolio.

By incorporating the heritage features of the building, Standing Space was able to create a high-class residential appearance for the building, from the initial concierge desk to the individual apartments. This made it a fantastic residential interior design project.

Building History

The building was designed by Matear and Simon in 1907. Originally used as a warehouse for Liverpool's Cotton Exchange. The Building now affords a Grade II listing. 

Brand History 

This was Bruntwood's first venture into residential. The finished scheme was subsequently sold to Delph Property Group.

Design Challenges 

The challenge was to create a good density of apartments while working within the constraints of the building's heritage listing, which limited the flexibility of each floor plate. Despite these challenges, the interiors turned out to be beautiful, with a distinct heritage twist. The success of the project was evident on launch night, with Delph Properties selling more units than any of their other projects. This achievement was credited to the well-thought-out designs and beautiful heritage interiors.
